How To Integrate Scout with Amazon’s Echo

For Scout customers who own an Echo, pair your Scout and Alexa now and start the conversation immediately! To link your Scout and Alexa accounts, enable the Scout Alarm skill. You can do that from the skills section of the Alexa app or http://echo.amazon.com.

Now, ask Alexa to launch the Scout app. From here, Alexa will provide you with vocal instructions but just in case you need it, we have listed out the steps below for you to follow:

  1. Open your Scout web app

  2. Go to Integrations section

  3. Select Amazon Alexa or follow this link

  4. To pair, enter the 4 digit Pairing Code Alexa has sent you from your Echo app

  5. Enter a pin* you will need to remember and include when asking Alexa to disarm Scout

*This pin is a security precaution and must be used to disarm a Scout mode when using Alexa to do so

Once paired, you can ask Alexa several things. For example, say any of the below commands:

  • “Alexa, ask Scout and arm Sleep mode.”
  • “Alexa, ask Scout about the last five activities.”
  • "Alexa, ask Scout what mode is armed.”
  • “Alexa, ask Scout if the front door is open.”
  • "Alexa, tell Scout to panic!”

More examples of things Alexa can do with Scout can be found by following this link.
